I have two weeks to plan a Grand Opening. BWAHAHAHAHAHA [insert manic laughter] On the upside the major parts have been confirmed so fear not you shall be hydrated and fed courtesy of Coast Seafood Restaurant & Pink by Yellowglen. And of course the parade of pretty. Other than that, I’m workin on it! =P

So while the last few months have been a bit of a whirl – overworked, underpaid (if I’m paid at all) – the last few weeks have given me a glimpse of hope into the world of retail: samples! Samples and samples of new products to try and order as suppliers entice and cajole with their presents of scents galore. Ironically, my sensitivity to smell has made me avoid strong perfumes altogether, and yet I still love the subtle smells of moisturizers, hand creams, bubble baths and candles. Ahhh…. candles. And when the nights are long, the days are cold – at least I have an arsenal of candles, bubble baths and luxurious creams to tide me until the next shipment arrives.

I’m so guilty of buying in bulk. When I like something, I will buy in multiples. Lip balm – check! Hand cream – one in each purse and each location I sit at for longer than an hour. Moisturizer – one for each mood, chikka! The multiple winners? Rosebud Salve has come out with a minted version, and minty it is indeedy! I bought one and then a few days later – ran into Beautymark to buy another. L’Occitane Hand Cream – but buyer beware – buy the travel sized versions or customs will toss it to the trash. I have glared at one such officer and retorted that she was throwing away a very good moisturizer and should just pocket it for herself than let such a good thing go to waste. (what?? I was upset! It was my ONLY tube!)

So it’s girls night out this Friday and I can’t wait to pull out my dancing shoes.  I’m gonna rock with it, and roll with it… cuz that’s just how I do.

So it’s been a couple months since I began this rollercoaster ride and I’m still in the “adjustment” phase. Who knew running a business required looking “decent”? What do you mean I can’t come into work haggard and disshelved? LOL Although I secretly must admit, looking good is part of the fun. It justifies my purchases all the better. It’s a business expense. So are my blo outs, although I really should be asking for a receipt. Life overall has changed and thus I’ve had to change my life and style accordingly. (side note: bought the leggings. Love them. Get them.)

Best buy of the year

So I went to the Opening Gala for Vancouver Fahsion Week last night at Pop Opera and wore (what I thought) was a really cute black strapless dress with a very Chanel-ish cropped blazer with adorable white embellishments. Personally wasn’t too impressed with the event since it turned more into a regular ol club night than a night of high fashion and media mingling. Anyway – I am now faced with a dilemma much more grave than the FMA’s or FBarazzi – there are events every night and I can’t just look “nice” or “pretty” – I actually have to look stunning, luscious – as a friend so wisely put. So tomorrow I am heading to said friend’s FABULOUS STORE (Boudoir – really where else can I go without looking another generic Vancouver special?) Actually, we secretly played dress up last night and came up with a few great outfits – I will totally post pics tomorrow! Anyway, if you’re looking to update your wardrobe key pieces to include and find: shiny leggings a la Rihanna, ribbons and ruffles and lace a la Blair, high-waisted shorts paired with tights and slouchy suede boots, loooong cardigans and a hot high-waisted skirt.

Kidding. it was actually an email notification. Prices are being reduced this weekend for that Designer Shoe Sale. Word on the streeet (OKOK… Facebook) says that the sale isn’t too great anywho.

I don’t know about the rest of you girls, but being “me” is pretty much a full-time job. And by “me” I mean moi primped, groomed and presentable. I’m this close to hiring a PA. (And oh, about $50G’s short of doing, so.) So if like me, you lack a lackey, I suggest planning ahead. This means using the winter months to take advantage of long sleeves and long pants. Winter is the BEST time for laser hair removal. Most places discourage plucking, waxing or threading the areas to be removed, and what better way to hide the awkward moments in between appointments than cute leggings and cozy sweaters? Unless you ENJOY shaving every other day and appointments to the salon every few weeks, then get rid of that unwanted hair for good. I know there’s been controversy about the permanency of laser treatments, but from personal experience – soooo worth it. And no, it ain’t cheap either, but in the long run, you’ll be happy you took the plunge. Hey, it ain’t easy being pretty!
